Happy Holidays
By Rob Wrubel, CFP®, AIF®
The week leading up to Thanksgiving and the weeks between then and Christmas feel like fast-motion for all of us at Cascade Investment Group. This year, we sprinted as many of you wanted and needed to review portfolios, understand current and future potential capital gains and discuss the need to make estate and charitable gifts under the current tax code.
There is always a rush to tie up loose ends before the end of the year as certain decisions must be made by December 31st.
We love the work we do on behalf of our clients and welcome the calls, meetings and consultations with the rest of your financial planning team – CPAs, estate attorneys, other family advisors and key family members. We always get a better result when the key team members get together. As 2012 comes to a close, we have helped many clients think through tax, charitable and estate issues with their teams. It has been personally and professionally satisfying to work with clients on these complex planning needs.
The cloud of uncertainty in Washington has helped some people move forward with planning steps that should have been taken anyway and encouraged others to give thought to significant family and charitable planning. We do not know what 2013 will bring and pay attention to the news every day as the two sides seek to find some version of a rational solution to debt, spending, tax and revenue concerns.
The next week usually sees the pace of activity slow (some even say stop). Families get together for end of year holidays with Christmas dinners, out-of-town guests and New Year’s celebrations. It is a time for many of our clients to enjoy their families, show gratitude to the people around them and take some time for their own passions.
We are here over the holiday week and can answer questions or meet with you if issues come up. If none come up for you, enjoy your week with family and friends.
Happy holidays from all of us at Cascade Investment Group.
